Newton Stewart has been designated as the Gateway to the Galloway Hills which are part of the Galloway Forest
Park. The area is refreshingly unspoilt and a haven for walkers, cyclists, bird-watchers and other outdoor pursuits in general.
It is also an anglers’ paradise with several excellent fishing
rivers including the Cree which runs through the town.
