The gluten free awareness day was a roaring success and we introduced a gluten free menu to compliment our usual menu. It is surprising how few changes we have to make, by simply offering gluten free bread and pasta.

Please take some time to support the Open for Dogs campaign being run by the Kennel Club. They are hoping to create a change in the way of thinking about welcoming people and dogs together. Please visit www.openfordogs.org.uk
To support gluten free awareness week, we are holding a gluten free awareness day on Saturday 17th March. Please come along for free tastings and advice. You can even meet our gluten free guru....Buzz (he can also give gardening tips!!!)
Were you horrified by Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's programmes about the life of cheap chickens? We have asked our local butcher John D Owen to ensure Free Range chicken is available in Newton Stewart.
We have listed the cafe on FreeRangeReview.com. Check out who is offering Free Range produce in your area and if you have visited our cafe, please add your review comments to support our support!! Thanks
Oh.. and don't forget to sign Hugh's petition from the above link. Thanks again.
We seem to be meeting more people with food intolerances and we are always looking to help and make their eating experience memorable.
At last.... our gluten free chum Buzz has given the nod to some gluten free bread that is of a suffciently high standard to offer customers. We have also found some gluten free biscuits that taste just like orange Kit Kats!!!
We have now been recommended by customers and are listed on the gluten free- on the go website. This site is "The Coeliac friendly guide to cafes, restaurants and hotels aroud the world".
We always try to offer wheat, gluten and dairy free soups -even if the soup being offered is not wheat and or gluten free, we usually have some tucked away in the freezer for use in allergy free emergencies!!
A recent coeleac visitor commented the following...
" For persons with dietry "problems" i.e coelec, wheat free, dairy free etc., this cafe is so willing to please and try products which make persons such as myself so grateful and happy to be able to feel "normal". To come and eat soup, salad and breakfast with bread is unknown elsewhere. Your meals have been fabulous. Thankyou"
We are delighted to announce we were nominated as a UKTV Food local hero and made the Scottish top 20.
A fantastic achievement considering we only opened in May 2006.
